A Memory Inside My Mind
When I think of beauty, there are special memories that I have stored away in my mind. A perfect rose fades over time, but in my mind that rose will continue to be beautiful, maybe even more than the moment I first saw it Each memory is like a mental photograph that I can bring out and enjoy when I am sitting alone quietly. The images might be simple, but my mind processes them like they are more than that.
Sometime I picture my dog's eyes -- they look like only big brown circles, but my mind images them to be gems with great beauty within. Sometimes I recall the sea on the horizon--just a line of blue on the surface, but my mind thinks of the endless expanse of ocean and the sea creatures within.
It's these images of beauty that inspired me to write my song. I want to show through my music that beauty is more than what the eye can see; it's more like what the mind sees. The melody and accompaniment are played softly adn gently at first, like the quiet moments when I begin to reflect on beautiful things. I use simple notes and rhythm to describe the simple images that I see in my mind.
Later in the song, the music deepens and it repeats. As it repeats, I have added in a few musical embellishment. These embellishment don't really change the music or make it more complicated, but they add elegance and help to make the music more memorable. This represents what happens in my mind. At first, I enjoy a simple memory for what it is, But then after a moment, I play the memory again in my mind and embellish the image with a few extra thoughts of what makes it so beautiful to me.
At the end of the song, the moemory fades out in my mind... until the next time I think of it. |
